Name THIRSTYFISH Philippa Ndisi-HerrmannAbout PHOTOGRAPHER / FILMMAKER Born in Bonn, in 1985, of Kenyan and German parentage, Philippa Ndisi-Hermann is a Kenyan filmmaker and photographer. Philippa studied Filmmaking and Communication in the Netherlands and South Africa. PHOTOGRAPHY In April 2011, The Sundance Institute exhibited a selection of her work at MoCADA (The Museum of Contemporary African Diasporan Art) in New York City. FILMMAKING Gubi – The Birth of Fruit, her short film premiered at The Brooklyn International Film Festival 2008, and went on to be screened at numerous festivals worldwide, notably The Durban International Film Festival 2008, FESPACO 2009, and The Pan African Film Festival, Los Angeles, 2009. Philippa’s One Minute Visual Art film, Speaking in Tongues was screened at The Beijing Art Museum in 2008 and The International Film Festival Rotterdam 2010. She worked as 1st Assistant Director on Ongeriewe, a short film that premiered in competition at Festival de Cannes 2006. Philippa is working towards her first narrative feature film, Two Princes. Philippa defines herself an aesthete, an artist, and an African. She is based in her home town of Nairobi, Kenya where she practices as a filmmaker and photographer.
